Abstract:

Background: Common Variable immune deficiency (CVID) is the commonest symptomatic primary immunodeficiency and represents a heterogenous collection of disorders resulting mostly in antibody deficiency and recurrent infections. The syndrome includes impaired B-cell maturation, impaired somatic hyper mutation, reduced numbers of circulating memory and isotype-switched memory B cells, and absent or reduced plasma cells. B cell maturation antigen (BCMA) is a tumor necrosis family receptor superfamily member 17 (TNFRSF17), expressed only on B cell lines, and is essential for survival of long-lived plasma cells. The aim of this study was to evaluate mutations in BCMA in patients with CVID in compare with normal individuals in Isfahan, Iran. Methods: Blood samples were collected from 10 CVID patients with substitutive immunoglobulin therapy before immunoglobulins (Ig) infusion and 10 normal controls in ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) tubes then DNA samples were extracted and after the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) was done, samples were sequenced.Findings: After reviewing the results of the sequence and alignment of the sequences, no mutations in the gene were seen. Conclusion: In addition to the study of mutation in BCMA gene, BCMA gene and protein expression level should be considered to understand more aspects of this disease.

Abstract:

Background: Since the function of muscles, and subsequently the mandibular joint, is affected in patients with Bell's palsy, therefore, the evaluation of facial muscles and mandibular function in these patients can be effective in diagnosis, prevention, and treatment planning. The present study aimed to evaluate the degree of displacement and range of motion (ROM) of the mandible and the ability of the facial symmetrical muscles of patients with Bell's palsy.    Methods: This was a quasi-experimental comparative study. The Variables evaluated were mandibular movement in a vertical direction and side-to-side displacement. Ten patients with Bell's palsy and 10 healthy eligible volunteers participated in the present study. Three mobile video cameras (to record jaw movements), 9 color markers, Kinovea software, House-Brackmann index, Toledo protocol, and a specialized patient questionnaire were used. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used for data analysis, the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test was used to investigate the normality of data distribution, and independent samples the t test and paired samples t test were used to compare means.    Results: The maximum lateral on the sound side was 12.40 and 4.49 mm during lateral movements of the patients' mandible, while this value was between 12.30 and 3 mm on the involved side. There is a difference between the affected side and the nonaffected side in terms of the mean lateral movements of the patients' mandible. However, this difference in the mean ROM on both sides is not statistically significant. The maximum mouth opening in healthy individuals during mandibular movements was between 40 and 60 mm, while this value was between 25 and 50 mm in the patients with Bell’s palsy. This study shows a significant difference (P = 0.007) between patients and healthy individuals in terms of the mean of maximum mouth opening (P < 0.05).    Conclusion: The results of this study showed that the ROM of temporomandibular joint (TMJ) of the patient is the same as that of normal subjects, but the side-to-side motion is more than normal which should be considered in rehabilitation treatments. The present study emphasizes the need to implement a mandibular Kinematic evaluation protocol in patients with bell's palsy to prevent damage to the TMJ in the long term.

Abstract:

The Effect of different culture conditions on growth and production of antimicrobial agents by Oudemansiella spp, using the Variable Size - Simplex Design, were investigated. The results obtained from the experiments indicated that the optimum condition for growth and production of antimicrobial agents, situated at pH between 5.6 and 6.8, temperature between 28°C and 30.6 ºC, shaking rate between 137 and 170 rpm. The results also showed the fungus grow and produced antimicrobial agents at a very wide range of glucose concentration. Increasing the concentration of glucose over 15 g/L, resulted in decreasing the activity of the fungus.

Abstract:

INTRODUCTION: IN BASKETBALL, A RUNNING SINGLE LEG JUMP IS FREQUENTLY USED IN VARIOUS COMPETITIVE ACTIVITIES SUCH AS REBOUNDING, BLOCKED SHOTS AND LAY-UP SHOTS AT A HIGHER POSITION. HENCE, THE ABILITY OF THE LAYUP JUMP IS A DETERMINANT FOR ACHIEVING HIGH COMPETITIVE PERFORMANCES IN THIS SPORT.METHODOLOGY: THE PURPOSE OF THE STUDY WAS TO IDENTIFY THE CRUCIAL VariableS THAT CONTRIBUTE TO A SUCCESSFUL BASKETBALL LAYUP PERFORMANCE BY USING BIOMECHANICAL ANALYSIS. THIRTEEN MALE BASKETBALL PLAYERS PERFORMED 3 SINGLE LEG JUMPS. THREE-DIMENSIONAL COORDINATE OBTAINED WITH RAPTOR CAMERA INFRARED MOTION ANALYSIS SYSTEM (MAC 3D SYSTEM) AT A SAMPLING FREQUENCY OF 500-HZ AND SYNCHRONIZED TO EACH OTHER WERE USED. IN ORDER TO LOCATE SEGMENTS AND JOINTS, MARKERS WERE ATTACHED AT 9 IDENTIFIED SECTION OF THE BODY ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF EACH SUBJECT: THE HEAD OF THE 2ND DORSAL PHALANX (TOE), BASE OF THE CALCANEOUS (HEEL), LATERAL MALLEOLUS (ANKLE), LATERAL CONDYLE OF THE FEMUR (KNEE), GREATER TROCHANTER (HIP), GLENOHUMERAL JOINT (SHOULDER), CHIN-NECK INTERSECTION (HEAD), HEAD OF RADIUS (ELBOW), AND ULNAR STYLOID PROCESS (WRIST). SIMI MOTION 7.5 MOTION ANALYSIS PROGRAM WAS USED TO MAKE Kinematic ANALYSIS. COORDINATE DATA WERE FILTERED AND THEN Kinematic VariableS WERE CALCULATED TO DESCRIBE THE BASKETBALL RUNNING SINGLE LEG JUMPS PERFORMANCE RESULTS: THE RESULTS OF THE PRESENT STUDY REVEALED FIVE VariableS THAT STRONGLY CONTRIBUTED TO JUMP HEIGHT ACCORDING TO MODEL SELECTION. IN THE APPROACH PHASE, THE HORIZONTAL VELOCITY OF COM WAS A CONTRIBUTOR. THE SHOULDER JOINT ANGULAR VELOCITY WAS THE ONLY Variable IDENTIFIED IN THE FLIGHT PHASE. THE REMAINING FOUR VariableS WERE FROM THE TAKEOFF PHASE: HIP JOINT ANGULAR VELOCITY, ANKLE JOINT ANGULAR VELOCITY AND MAXIMUM NEGATIVE VERTICAL VELOCITY OF COM DURING TAKEOFF.DISCUSSION: THE CURRENT RESULTS INDICATE THAT ANKLE JOINT ANGULAR VELOCITY DURING THE TAKEOFF PERIOD WAS SIGNIFICANT PREDICTOR THAT IS IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE RESULTS OF SUGIYAMA AND ET AL (2014) FOR JUMP HEIGHT [1]. ALSO, IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO USE THEIR ARMS CORRECTLY AT TAKEOFF AND FLIGHT PHASE ARE CORRELATED WITH THE JUMP HEIGHT THAT WAS CONSISTENT WITH LEES AND ET AL (2004) IT WAS FOUND THAT THE ARM SWING AFFECTS THE JUMP HEIGHT [2]. THEREFORE, IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO USE THEIR ARMS CORRECTLY, THE HIP EXTENSION SPEED, ANKLE JOINT ANGULAR VELOCITY, HORIZONTAL VELOCITY OF COM AND MAXIMUM NEGATIVE VERTICAL VELOCITY OF COM AT LAYUP JUMP THAT ARE CORRELATED WITH THE JUMP HEIGHT.

Abstract:

In this paper Kinematics model of a nonholonomic mobile manipulator is formulated. The Kinematics equations for a mechanical mobile manipulator are developed in such a way that the Kinematics interaction between the mobile platform and mechanical manipulator explicitly appears in the equations. In both conditions the motion constraints and Kinematics redundancy are considered and analyzed. These concepts are expanded in general cases by using special subjects, on linear algebra and functional analysis. A useful and unique Kinematics model for redundancy resolution of mobile manipulators is introduced by defining specified Variables. Finally, the application of the model is verified by simulation results in order to find the maximum allowable load of a mobile manipulator.

Abstract:

The purpose of the present study was to Kinematically analyze the fencing lunge in two groups of elite and novice athletes. Eight right-handed fencers (foil-male) were selected from Sharif University fencing team (Novice group, mean 21.5±1.3 years) and Iranian national fencing team (Elite group, mean 24±2.5 years) and tested in two different days following the installation of markers over the joints of the subjects. The lunge fencing of subjects was recorded using 3-high speed kinemetrix camera. The results showed that the elite group had a higher mean lunge length than the novice group (1.17±0.17 m vs. with 1.02±0.1 m). Studying the effective factors, it was noticed that in on guard position, the elite group inclined their bodies (0.117±0.04 m) towards their front legs more than novice group (0.051±0.03). Investigation of the angular motion of joints revealed that the initial knee flexion in elite group (mean 20 deg) was less than novice group (mean 38 deg) but their following extension (51±9 deg) was considerably larger (18±8 deg). The angular motion of the hip joints in the two groups was negligible except for the final lunge position. In contrast to the popular belief that the motion of armed hand and blade precedes the leg motion, it was observed that the armed hand and leg moved simultaneously in elite group. Our results emphasize the necessity to strengthen the quadriceps and hamstring muscles, in addition to observe motion pattern of the lower limbs to achieve a longer lunge.

Abstract:

In this research, direct Kinematic and inverse Kinematic analysis of a 6 DOF hybrid robot has been performed by connecting a spherical parallel robot with three degrees of rotational freedom to a delta parallel robot. The advantage of this combination is that the motion equations are independent of the spatial orientation equations so that the robot can be moved to any location from the Delta robot workspace without any limitations, with any orientation that is available through a spherical parallel robot. Therefore, the Kinematic models of these two parallel robots are extracted independently and ultimately combined to work as an integrated platform. A mechanical model of the robot is implemented in Simscape environment of MATLAB software. Then, the accuracy of these two models is checked and shown to be perfectly consistent. The transational and rotational workspace for the end-effector of the hybrid parallel robot have also been calculated using robot Kinematic relations and by the help of numerical methods. Additionally, the robot inverse Kinematics has been used to implement an adaptive neuro fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) to predict Kinematic responses with high accuracy.
